Importance of Connecting

Elise and I hosted 3 cookouts this summer.  People we never dreamed would have the time or interest to come showed up and stayed late!  It was great for our church because we had been missing fellowship; there simply had not been enough opportunities for people to be together.  And they want to connect with others.

Last week, the internationals in our church led the worship service.  I was the behind-the-scenes organizer.  I wanted 11 people involved in the service in addition to the 9 who would be leading the worship.  Our church is small and this represents a  large percentage of the total attendance.  Not only did 11 others participate, but they were excited to have the opportunity.  Nobody said, "No." when I asked them to help out.  Once again, the opportunities have not been there but the people want to connect with each other and serve the Lord.

Those who have read for awhile, know that I think David Rogers is one of the best writers out there.  He has written two great posts in the past week.  One of them deals with the topic of groups and the necessity that people connect with one another through healthy small groups of some sort or another.

Pray for us to lead healthy groups and to help others find that Biblical fellowship that is so easy to miss out on.
